How can I get horrible dog smell out of the carpet of my new apartment?

The smell it that of a large smelly dog and dry dog food. It doesnt reallt smell like it peed or anything in here just nasty big dog smell the type that deffinatly shouldnt have been kept in a small apartment but outside. I have tried carpet fresh myself and pet odor spary, and my land lord has shampooed the carpet put something called an "ozone machine" in here and done 2 "pet treatments". It still seems terible and I am quite sensetive to it does anyone have any suggestions?
