WHAT IS THE IRONY IN THIS POEM?

This is a powerful poem. The irony of the situation is that although the protagonist is being treated as a second-cl citizen, he does not consider himself to be one. He has a very strong sense of self-worth and has hopes and dreams of being on an equal footing with the others in future.
