Birthday gift for eleven yearold?

hello, it would be for my granddaughter. don't want to give her a 'typical' gift. something more of a personal nature i've thought of a necklace or bracelet with an inscription on it. or a t-shirt on ebay that would have 'something' ' put on it. really don't know what an eleven year old would like. i know what she would like,'money', but she 'ain't' going to get that. any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks.
