Is marriage worth it? What are the best attributes in a spouse?

I'm single (26 years old) and am hearing of more and more divorces amongst my young friends. Is anyone out there who's married still a proponent of it? What makes your marriage work? What ruins a marriage? My family wants me to get married but I'm so cynical about it these days. (I've never been married before). I just need some encouragement!
